Yes, they really are. Most of the women who belong to our Agency come from Villages close to Manizales.  They come to Manizales to look for a job and better their education. If they can afford to many attend the 7 universities in Manizales.

Manizales women don’t have the same attitude or behavior as the larger city women.  This means they are not just after money. They are really looking for a good relationship and see American men as intelligent, gentle and make good boy friends or husbands.

We have thought about group events but feel it is more for show. We have had many clients who have been to these parties and tours in other cities and end up feeling the big city girls work them for money and play games. Many of our clients say they are not interested in the big party but in finding someone special.

These men perceived women from those parties were not looking for a good relationship but was just business for the girls and their agencies. While many say they had fun at the parties they felt cheated.

We do not offer these Group parties and tours because we think the best way to protect our visitors is meeting people personally after passing through a pre-selection process.

In the U.S.A if you are with a 20-25 year old girl people look at you as if you are doing something wrong. In Colombia a relationship with young women is accepted and very normal. These girls are looking for older men and having 25 or 30 years difference in age is not a problem.

There is a very clear reason for this event. Most of the women here are underprivileged. Thus, finding a good job is difficult. For instance, a highly educated University teacher might earn $750 USD per month.

Woman here look for a man who can improve their lives. Most young Colombian men are supported by and live with their parents; therefore, they are not able to give a woman any help or support.

High-status-young men are not allowed to marry women who are not from their same status level. This social-class discrimination gives low class girls very few chances to meet any Colombian men from the higher-class status.

Foreign men are normally seen as intelligent and successful people. Meeting a North American man is what most Colombian women can only dream about. This is one of the main reasons you will be very accepted and welcomed in Manizales by these young beautiful women.

Our Human resources staff will help you out with dates and translation.

One of our translators will go out of the Agency with you and help you through your first and second dates if you would like. This service will cost US $15 per hour. The first time you meet a girl in our office translation is included in the package.

Our apartments are supplied with a computer and translation program which allows you to sit down with her and easily have a conversation, Just type in what you want to say and hit translate. She can then read in Spanish and type in her reply, which is then translated back to English. This is also a fun way to learn Spanish and for your date to practice English.

If you would like we have Spanish teacher’s that can help you learn the language. Private lessons are about $10 U.S. per hour. It really does not take that long before you know the basic’s and can communicate.

First you will be charged for a guest at most any Hotel. Manizales women don’t feel comfortable going to a hotel because they must leave their I.D. at the front desk. They are afraid that people in the hotel may know their relatives.

We do have cellphones in Colombia. They cost US$ 30 per week; in that way you can buy a prepaid calling card to get minutes anywhere. You can also make international calls back to the U.S or Canada easily from cellphones.

It is normally T shirt and jeans throughout the day about 75, then at night can cool down 60-65 so bring a sweater or light jacket for night. The weather here is very pleasant.

Our agency and apartments are located close to the main Universities, in the new part of the city. Owner is a North American and has been living down here.  The streets are safe day or night without any problem.  As with any place in the world you should always be cautious day or night. Manizales is a very clean, safe and beautiful city.

Down town city area is safe daytime but it is not recommended at night just because there are groups of homeless found on the streets.

Yes, there are some places you should not go which are the back streets of old downtown neighborhoods. It is similar to any city in the world, even though in USA.

Manizales is the safest city in all of Latin America. There are about 50.000 university students and its entire population is 400.000 citizens. The city is large enough to get anything you need but does not have the traffic or pollution problem of the bigger cities.

There are many ways to get to Manizales. Several airlines fly direct to Medellin, Bogota or Pereira. Then you can take a short 30-40 minute flight to Manizales.  The airport in Manizales is very nice, clean and only about 8-10 minutes from the apartments. Avianca is the Colombian airline and they are great, better than any American airline.  If you would rather travel by bus it is safe and cheap. There are some gray hound type buses that are a very pleasant and scenic way to travel to Manizales. It takes about 4hrs bus ride from Medellin, Pereira 1.5 hrs and from Armenia 2.5 hrs.

Some guests decide to take Bogotá- Pereira flight. The buses are a great option from there or just get a taxi and they will drive you to Manizales.  It is safe and easy to do this, just ask for the Driver how much before you go. This eliminates any issue when you arrive.

Manizales Airport flights are until 5 pm and Pereira has flights until 10 pm.

Please, check out your Travel Agency for international trips. Avianca is the one recommended by us but there are several others they provide good service.

Yes you can bring up to $10,000 going through customs. You will not need anything close to that amount to come down for a week or two. That is the limit you can cross through customs without being questioned. That rule applies to most countries, even in the U.S.A. No custom agents will take any money away from you. They want tourism; in fact if you watch CNN they are always advertising Colombia. Tourism has become very popular here and everyone is very friendly. We suggest going to your bank in the U.S. and ask them to get you Colombian pesos (large bills) or you can easily exchange dollars for pesos in the Bogota airport. The best place to exchange is in the shopping center close to the apartments. They are even open on Saturdays and Sundays. You can also bring credit cards since the city is provided by ATMs (Automatic Teller machine). You can withdraw up to 500,000 in Colombian pesos per day (about $250 U.S.).

Bringing Travel checks is not recommended since they are not necessary and you will have to fill certain documents and wait in the Bank client lines.

You can pay here in dollars or Colombian pesos. You can also pay in advance, if you prefer, using Pay pal – visa through our web site. This is what most clients due because it is the easiest way. When we receive your payment we can then reserve your apartment.

About 1 out of 5 clients cannot use their credit cards through our website. It happens because the security denies access from some ATM providers when they observe an I.P. address from an Internet Colombian connection.

No, it is not required; we are a Friendship and Marriage Agency. You just let the girl know what you want and find out what she is looking for. Friendship is a great way to start any relationship. Then just see what happens. These girls are looking for someone that cares about them.

It depends on appointments and documents required by US government. You might plan 6-12 months waiting time.

Both of Visas will cost about US$ 2.000 (Mostly Attorney costs). You can also choose your own attorney, here in Colombia or from USA.

There is in addition US$ 350 fee approximately that has to be paid to USA government directly.

Costs will also involve Postal expenses and your Fiancé/wife’s travel to Embassy in Bogotá city. This is where your fiancé/wife will take the interview and get visa respectively.

There are some guests that do not want a girl full time in the U.S. It is fine to have a girl in Manizales and just let her stay here. You can have a special bond with her and just come back to visit.

Some professional men work many hours and they are afraid that their       business commitments will interfere by having a woman close all the time. This is why some men don’t want to live  with a girl.

In contrast, some prefer their fiancée stay in Manizales; keep up with her education and be close to her family. Afterwards, Men fly to Manizales to be with their wife or girl friend.

Costs here, for supporting your fiancé or girl friend are very reasonable. It will be much lower than supporting costs in USA, if girl was up there. This is a good option preferred by some of our guests.
